Dusit Princess Ipoh opens 1 October 2026 beside the Perak Turf Club. It is Dusit's third branded hotel in Malaysia after Dusit Princess Melaka and ASAI Gamuda Cove, and the first in Perak. The building is not a greenfield tower. Plenitude Berhad already ran the 268-room property. The rebrand is the news. Opening rates start at RM230 a night including RM50 food credit, valid for stays from 1 October through 31 December 2026.
Ipoh city centre is under five minutes by car. Sultan Azlan Shah Airport is about 10 minutes, with the Singapore flight still the useful international hop. Rooms run from 25 sq m Superior to 58 sq m Family Suites. Family rooms have kitchenettes. Views are turf club or limestone-and-city, which in Ipoh is the same postcard you get from the train. Facilities listed in the launch pack: outdoor pool, Kids Club, self-service laundry, prayer room, accessible rooms, and a 6,580 sq ft gym.
Breakfast is the local test
The all-day restaurant is The Atrium, with a limestone view if you get the window. Breakfast buffet names nasi lemak, roti canai, kway teow goreng, and dim sum next to the continental trays. That is the right list for this city. If the dim sum is hotel dim sum, you will still walk to Old Town for the real cart. Use the RM50 credit there or at the lobby coffee shop. Do not treat the hotel as a replacement for Concubine Lane or Kong Heng Square. Those are five minutes away. The hotel's job is a clean bed and a pool after a cave-temple morning.
Dusit is selling a "Discover the Soul of Ipoh" add-on: heritage photo walks, Tambun pomelo orchards, cave temples, white coffee trails, Labu Sayong pottery, family cooking, evening wildlife. These are the same things every decent Ipoh concierge already books. The difference is they are packaged under the brand. Ask for prices at check-in. Do not assume they are in the RM230 rate. They will not be.
Meetings, not just weekenders
Event space is about 964 sq m. Kinta Ballroom is 496.8 sq m, 400 theatre or 300 banquet, with an LED wall. Kampar Hall is 383 sq m. Gopeng Room is 84 sq m. That is why government and corporate groups are in the launch quotes. Chanin Donavanik of Dusit International pointed at Perak's 23.6 million domestic visitors in 2025. Elsie Chua of Plenitude called it a new chapter for an existing hotel. Translation: the building was already here. The flag and the F&B credit are new.
I would book the opening rate if I needed a pool and a gym within a short Grab of Old Town, and I did not want a shophouse hotel with no lift. I would not book it as a "heritage stay". It is a turf-club business hotel with Thai brand standards. White coffee is still better at a kopitiam. The caves are still in Gunung Rapat and Kek Lok Tong. The hotel just made the airport-to-pillow bit less annoying.
